USGS Curve

The United States Geological Survey (USGS), in its “World Petroleum Assessment 2000,” predicts a possible peak in oil production around the year 2037. USGS is a scientific fact-finding research organization of the United States government. The scientists of the USGS study the landscape of the United States, its natural resources, and the natural hazards that threaten it. USGS’ peak projection has been countered by Sadad Al Husseini, former vice-president of the Saudi oil company Aramco, who says the American government's forecast for future oil supply is a “dangerous over-estimate.” Other critics of USGS estimates include ASPO founder, Colin Campbell, who agues that their peak prediction is methodologically flawed.
